Folkhälsan’s data protection policy

Folkhälsan’s data protection policy complies with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and national data protection legislation.

Folkhälsan pursues a comprehensive and diverse range of activities, which, in turn, means that we process the personal data of patients, customers, product and service vendors, students, association members, volunteers, persons participating in research projects and, naturally, our own employees and trustees.

The Folkhälsan unit that acts as the controller varies and depends on the legal entity where a specific activity is pursued. Personal data are processed only for the purposes they are collected for and only by the Folkhälsan unit and those employees that have the right to do so, and only when needed for their work. Patient and customer data are also protected by statutory obligation of confidentiality and non-disclosure.

Folkhälsan makes use of subcontractors when processing your personal data. We only rely on subcontractors that have agreed to meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and to ensure the protection of your rights.

In general, personal data are not transferred outside of the EU or EEA except in certain research projects where the partners are located outside of the Union. In such cases, personal data will be transferred within the framework of the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses or another transfer mechanism supported by law.
