Your privacy is very important to us at Folkhälsan. This page describes our data protection policy and how we process your personal data.
In practice, personal data refers to any information with which you can be directly identified, and also information that, when combined with other information, can be used to identify you. In addition to the name, address, personal identity number, telephone number and e-mail address, personal data includes, for instance, your account number, information concerning your health and other information about your relationship with Folkhälsan.
Folkhälsan’s data protection policy
Folkhälsan’s data protection policy complies with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and national data protection legislation.
Folkhälsan pursues a comprehensive and diverse range of activities, which, in turn, means that we process the personal data of patients, customers, product and service vendors, students, association members, volunteers, persons participating in research projects and, naturally, our own employees and trustees.
The Folkhälsan unit that acts as the controller varies and depends on the legal entity where a specific activity is pursued. Personal data are processed only for the purposes they are collected for and only by the Folkhälsan unit and those employees that have the right to do so, and only when needed for their work. Patient and customer data are also protected by statutory obligation of confidentiality and non-disclosure.

We delete the personal data when a legal basis for processing them no longer exists.
We use our websites to collect personal data concerning Folkhälsan’s local affiliate association members and job applicants during recruitment, and when handling course and event registrations.
Folkhälsan makes use of subcontractors when processing your personal data. We only rely on subcontractors that have agreed to meet the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and to ensure the protection of your rights.
In general, personal data are not transferred outside of the EU or EEA except in certain research projects where the partners are located outside of the Union. In such cases, personal data will be transferred within the framework of the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses or another transfer mechanism supported by law.
Processing of personal data
As a data subject in our data file containing personal data, you have certain rights regarding your personal data as provided by the applicable data protection legislation. These rights are set forth in Chapter 3 of the General Data Protection Regulation, Articles 15–18 and 20–21, including:
- the right to access your personal data
- the right to have erroneous personal data rectified
- in certain cases, deletion of personal data
- under certain conditions, the right to restrict processing
- under certain conditions, the right to object to processing
- the right to transfer the personal data to another controller if the processing is based on your consent or your agreement with us
If you do not agree with our processing of your personal data, you have the right to complain to a competent supervisory authority.

Please note that access to your personal data and exercising your above rights require that we can identify you in a reliable way. This is to ensure that your personal data are not disclosed to unauthorized parties.
If you have a service relationship with a municipality where Folkhälsan Välfärd Ab works as the service provider, please contact the municipality in question for any questions related to personal data.
We reserve the right to change and update our data protection description as needed. We will inform you of material changes to the data protection description in a visible way, for example by highlighting them on our website.
